Machine Work

Modern technology can save time and energy as well as improving accuracy and consistency. Here Keith is cutting the outside of a serpent on the somewhat daunting copy router by Bridgeport.  If he looks focussed it will be because this monster machine will cut anything that is offered to it! "The Bridgeprt", as it was known, was desgned to mill moving parts in jet engines and to be operated 24 hours per day.  Christopher Monk bravely invested in it thinking, quite rightly, that it would vastly improve workshop results. The machine had to be sold when the CM Instrumentswas moved to Norfolk.
