Thee BCC serpent
is a copy of a fine serpent d’église (keyless) by Baudouin c.1810. The French instruments seem to have changed very little from the Seventeenth Century. They are light and responsive with walls averaging 3/16 inch in thickness. The original instrument stands in D flat and this copy has been brought down to modern pitch with a specially designed crook. Copies of the original crook are also available.
