Cornett lessons online

If you play a musical instrument seriously, then there is no substitute for taking lessons with a well-respected local teacher. This is as true for the cornett as for any instrument, especially at the beginning when it so very easy to form bad habits which are then difficult to correct.

Following requests from amateur cornett players across the world who live in "cornett isolation" (many miles from good professional support), in 2012 I started to offer online tuition: this has proved popular, offering insight, technical and musical, to players living 'out of reach'. Of course more recently, with the Covid lockdown across the world, more or less everybody is out of reach and online instruction, guidance and support has become more popular than ever.

How it works
You will need a computer with camera and microphone and the lesson takes place (usually) via Zoom (Skype or Facetime also possible). The built-in camera and mic on most computers are adequate for our needs although I use external units (mic, camera, headphones, cinema display and speakers) for better quality. I can get pretty close up from right across the world! To get started simply email Jeremy here.

Charges
My teaching charges for private lessons are £50 per hour.  I have to charge VAT (tax) on top, currently 20%, no matter whether you live in Perth (Scotland), Paris or Perth (Australia). Payment via PayPal is easiest before or after the session.

Total £60 per hour

Too pricey for you?? Then consider the following...

* 20% discount for students
* think about sharing a lesson with a friend
* just got a small problem and looking for a quick fix? Then book half and hour.
* just got started and want to be sure you are on the right track? Again, a 30 minute lesson could be all you need to get going with confidence
* share 15 or 20 minutes with somebody else if you want to!

* Sessions bookable in 15  minute blocks up to 2 hours at any one time
* Please note: if time is lost due to a shaky internet connection then that will be made up at no charge;
or a new session will be booked if necessary.

Even better, come and see me in person if you can. I most often teach in:
Cardiff where I hold the International Chair in Historical Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music &
Drama
Cambridge where I am a musician-in-residence at the famous university (Girton College)
"Thank you for the awesome and helpful lesson!"
Ivan in Bulgaria
"At the end of every lesson I'm already looking forward to the next lesson.”
